MOROSO PROJECTS is proud to announce ‘Sun Tan’, a two person exhibition featuring new works by Chicago-based painter Josh Reames and New York-based photographer Alistair Matthews, opening Friday September 12th. The artists’ practices explore the use of recontextualized commonplace objects, tongue and cheek humor and pop culture references. The exhibition explores the relationships, unexpected similarities and narratives that develop between the often disparate practices of painting and photography. SUN TAN is curated by Nate Hooper and Greg Ito.

Alistair Matthews (b. 1987) lives and works in New York. Her photography appropriates pop-culture iconography and studio aesthetics, presenting objects and tableaus in a commercial influenced arrangement. Her work has been shown in Chicago, New York, Philadelphia, San Francisco, Oakland and Denver.

Josh Reames (b. 1985, Dallas, Texas) lives and works in Chicago. He earned his MFA (2012) from the Art Institute of Chicago and BFA (2007) from University of North Texas. He has exhibited in a number of institutions and galleries, including 356 Mission and Luis De Jesus, Los Angeles; LVL3, Devening Projects, Andrew Rafacz, Hyde Park Art Center, and the Union League Club, Chicago; The Hole, Muelensteen, and Monya Rowe Gallery, New York; Circuit 12 Contemporary, Dallas; and Dittrich & Schlechtriem, Berlin, among others. In 2012, Reames was artist-in-residence at Ox Bow (funded by Joan Mitchell Foundation) in Saugatuck, Michigan.
